Morning Session Keynote Speakers

  • Dr. Jeannette Armstrong (Canada Research Chair in Okanagan Indigenous Knowledge and Philosophy, UBC Okanagan)
  • Overview of cultural safety tools
    • ONA Resources (Fabian Alexis Health HUB Coordinator, and Jennifer Houde Child, Family Youth Health Services Manager)
    • UBC CS Modules (Donna Kurtz, UBC Okanagan School of Nursing ; Eric Mitchell, Chris Marchand, Okanagan Indian Band Knowledge Keepers; Jessie Nyberg Shuswap Elder and HELP’s Aboriginal Steering Committee Elder)
    • CS Safety Tools UBC CS Research Team (Mike Evans and Rachelle Hole, Co-directors Institute for Community Engaged Research)
    • Indigenous Cultural Competency Online Modules (Cheryl Ward, Provincial Health Services Authority, Aboriginal Health)

  • 1:00 – 2:00 First Break-Out Session
  • 2:15 – 3:15 Second Break-Out Session
  • 3:15 – 3:30 Break and fill out evaluation forms

Parking: 

The closest parking lots to the UNC Ballroom are lots F, E and H.[Depending on your browser, the map will open in your downloaded files, not a new window.]

Lot H is the closet parking lot to the UNC that offers all day parking for $5 dollars (coins or credit card).

Lots F and E have visitor parking with meters. Rates are $1.25/hr for up to two hours. After noon, lots E and F allow day pass parking to visitors for $3-$5 dollars from the ticketing dispenser (coins or credit card).
