Rachelle Hole is an assistant professor at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, School of Social Work. Her main research interests are in the area of disability studies, identity theory and qualitative inquiry. Her doctoral thesis explored the intersection of hearing loss and identity, exploring how three culturally Deaf women perceived the influence of hearing loss on their identities. The interest for this topic emerged from her social work practice over the last 15 years working with Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind individuals and their families throughout the Province of British Columbia.

Rachelle’s research is in the area of disability studies with a focus on the meaning of inclusion and citizenship for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. As a testimony to this fact, Rachelle has been involved with the Community Living Research Project since July 2005 and is the co-director of the Centre for Inclusion and Citizenship at the UBC Vancouver School of Social Work.
